Hi, I'm Crystal! I recently graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor in Science and honors in research. I majored in Human Biology Health and Society. I'm currently working as a dental assistant and applying to dental school, and enjoy tutoring on the side. At Cornell, I worked as a teaching assistant for both biology lab and environmental psychology. I have also worked as a teaching assistant at a test prep center in Forest Hills helping students improve their SHSAT and SAT scores.
As both a student and teaching assistant, I've learned that what makes a learning experience memorable is how teachers engage the material with their students. Personally, I've found that practice and clear explanations/guidance are the best ways to build a solid understanding and foundation for learning. When it comes to biology, many students think it is all about memorization, but I believe that once you engage and understand the material, it becomes much more digestible and even fun!
My goal is to make sure that the students I work with feel comfortable while being challenged to grow. I like to teach at student's pace and needs to create a supportive learning environment. I greatly appreciate feedback from students and parents to improve and provide the best learning experience for their kids. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
