Hi! My name is Chieko, and I’m a recent graduate of Columbia University and recieved a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in English and Comparative Literature, and Computer Science. With a GPA over 3.8, I’ve built a strong foundation in STEM while honing my passion for writing and communication. My academic background allows me to approach tutoring with a balance of analytical thinking and creative problem-solving.
I’ve been tutoring for over four years, starting at Phillips Exeter Academy, where I discovered a love for writing and helped peers brainstorm and revise essays for class assignments and college applications. During the summers of my junior and senior years of high school, I worked as an SAT tutor, guiding students through the Reading, Writing, and Math sections of the exam. Having scored a perfect 1600 on the SAT myself, I bring both content expertise and proven strategies to help students succeed.
At Columbia, I’ve tutored college and high school students in Physics I and Calculus I, conducting one-on-one sessions and group exam reviews. I focus on breaking down complex concepts into simple, relatable terms, tailoring my teaching style to fit each student’s needs. Whether it’s mastering integrals or crafting a compelling essay, I strive to foster confidence and curiosity in my students.
I believe learning is a collaborative process, and my approach is patient, supportive, and adaptable. My goal is to help students not only improve their skills but also gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for their subjects. I’m excited to work with you and help you achieve your goals—please feel free to reach out to schedule a lesson or ask any questions!
