Composition (Music)

Composition (Music)

I've worked with different musical ensembles to compose pieces in various jazz styles including Be-pop, Swing, Afro-Cuban, and Latin. I have also taught the basics of comp and have worked with more experienced musicians. In addition, I have experience in film scoring and sound design.
Ear Training

Ear Training

During high school and college, I volunteered to teach ear training to younger students. I leveraged my experience and my primary instrument, the piano, to help them grasp the fundamentals. In addition to basic concepts, I also introduced more advanced jazz techniques to deepen their understanding. This allowed me to connect foundational skills with more complex musical ideas.
Music Production

Music Production

I have extensive experience working with Logic Pro X for both academic and professional purposes across various genres. My work includes music production for songwriting and feature length films. Additionally, I have taught production software mechanics to artists looking to enhance their skills. This has allowed me to help others improve their production abilities while deepening my own knowledge.
Piano

Piano

I have 13 years of piano playing experience in both academic and professional settings in primarily jazz. I have taught piano to all ages from young adolescents to adults trying to improve their musical abilities. In addition I have also taught piano through digital platforms such as zoom.

Second lesson

Had my second lesson with Ethan. He really helped me with my college music theory homework. Especially for reading music. I did very well in my previous assignment that I completed together with him. And so I wanted to work on this new assignment too. What I also love about our lessons is that he always plays his own piano compositions as well as the movies and tv shows he does scores for. Very cool. Learnt a lot this session.

Great teacher and mentor - goes the extra mile

I had a lesson with Ethan for my music theory class at CU Boulder and it was honestly one of the best music tutoring sessions I have had. He explained things in a way that finally clicked for me and and he did not mind slowing down or re-explaining until I got it. What I really appreciated is that he didn’t just stick to the textbook - he asked about my own music and ended up giving me extra time to go through Logic Pro X. He showed me how I could actually use the theory I am learning in class to make my own compositions stronger - which was really valuable. Ethan clearly knows his stuff - but he Is also patient and easy to talk to. The session felt more like working with a mentor than just a tutor. I left feeling way more confident about my class and also more inspired about my own music writing. I have already decided I will be taking another lesson with him. Highly recommend!
