Hi, I'm Gabriella! I graduated with a B.A. in English Literature and Dean's List honors from Columbia University, where I also received my M.A. in American Studies with a pre-law/pre-journalism emphasis. I also hold an M.A. in Journalism from New York University. Prior to my current role as a Content Strategist at Meta, I worked full-time in journalism and wrote for outlets like Vox and Salon. My greatest journalistic accomplishment to date was a personal essay I wrote about growing up as the child of a 9/11 survivor that was published by the New York Times in 2023.
Reading and writing (and by extension, editing) have always been my greatest academic loves, and I'm incredibly passionate about helping others unlock that feeling through their own work. I've tutored middle school and high school students in SAT/ACT reading comprehension, writing, and grammar in one-on-one settings; however, I'm looking forward to working with students and writers of all ages to elevate their writing, improve their craft, and learn how to close read with an analytical approach. I believe everyone has an important story to tell, and that's why the words you choose to share matter so much!
I prefer editing essays in suggestion mode in Google Docs to make the process collaborative and explanatory. When it comes to SAT and test prep, I use lesson plans to introduce the topic creatively and engagingly before explicitly teaching the material and allowing students to practice on their own.
I want to support my students and clients as best as I can and according to their individual needs, so I welcome any additional resources, guides, or suggestions. I am easily accessible via email and text, and I will always respond promptly. Please also note that I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
