Korean Language Tutoring Qualifications: I was born and raised in South Korea and lived there until the age of 30, giving me extensive exposure to Korean language and culture in both academic and everyday settings. I hold a master’s degree from Yonsei University, one of South Korea’s leading universities. I have demonstrated strong Korean-language and writing skills throughout my academic career. I received one of the highest scores in the Korean Language section of Korea’s national college entrance examination (CSAT), and I received the highest evaluation for my personal statement during the Yonsei University graduate school admissions process. As a middle school student, I won a Gold Award in a poetry-writing competition, and in high school I received the Seoul Metropolitan Grand Prize in a book-report writing competition. I also ranked first in a university-level writing course. My writing experience extends beyond school. During graduate school, I contributed a column titled “Youth Column” to the weekly magazine Future Korea. I have also helped international students in Korea learn Korean and have reviewed and edited their academic papers, giving me experience explaining Korean language and writing to non-native speakers. In addition to language instruction, I have a strong understanding of Korean culture, society, and contemporary usage. I can therefore offer tutoring beyond basic vocabulary and grammar, including intermediate-to-advanced Korean conversation, reading, writing, and natural Korean expression. I particularly enjoy helping learners understand not only what is grammatically correct, but also how Koreans actually communicate in different social and cultural contexts.

Political Science

I graduated with both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Political Science from Yonsei University, one of Korea’s top universities, where I was trained in both historical and scientific approaches including Korean Politics, International Relations, Political Theory, Comparative Politics, Political Economy, International Political Economy and International relations in East Asia, etc. I earned my Ph.D. under the guidance of Professor Bruce Bueno de Mesquita, the Julius Silver Professor at New York University (NYU), a leading figure in the scientific study of international politics. My doctoral committee also included distinguished scholars Alastair Smith, the Bernhardt Denmark Chair of International Relations at NYU, and Nathaniel Beck, one of the most cited authors in top journals such as APSR. I have experience teaching both historical and scientific approaches in political science courses to undergraduate and graduate students in both Korea and the United States. In the U.S., I have been a dedicated instructor who has even held office hours lasting up to six hours while sharing dinner with students to ensure their deep understanding. At NYU, I completed core courses in American Politics, Comparative Politics, Game Theory, and International Politics—all taught by top scholars—and received excellent evaluations. My research in international politics utilizes game-theoretic modeling coupled with rigorous regression analysis to develop and verify theories. I continuously update my methodological skills to provide the best guidance possible. I have supervised numerous undergraduate reports, master’s theses, and Statements of Purpose, helping many of my students gain admission to prestigious graduate programs, including Ivy League schools, Stanford, NYU, and Georgetown.
