I'm Ben, a math tutor in New York City. I started tutoring my fellow students in college, and quickly found it to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. After graduating with High Honors in mathematics with minors in physics and computer science, I started working at a tutoring center for students ages 7-16 in the Boston area. I eventually left this behind to move to New York for grad school, where I was the primary instructor for a variety of math courses at City College, including College Algebra and Trigonometry, Precalc, and Calculus. After completing my PhD (focused on set theory and mathematical logic), I'm excited to return to working with students in a one-on-one rather than lecture setting.
My approach is identify the key concepts and techniques a student is struggling with, then resolve those confusions through a combination of finding explanations that resonate with the individual student and guiding the student through practice problems. I believe that when explained clearly, math can be one of the most fascinating things in the world, and I hope to share that experience with my students.
