Hi! My name is Arushi and I’m a neuroscience student on the pre-med track at NYU. I have 6 years of tutoring experience, largely in biology and algebra. I got a 34 on the ACT with perfect scores in English, Reading and Science. In my high school years, I successfully completed 11 AP courses and received 4s and 5s on all my exams. I've tutored underclassmen high school students and middle school students looking to get a head start, but I have experience working with elementary schoolers as I tutored 1st-3rd grade Hindi for many years.
My teaching philosophy is to not only help my students improve their grades, but set up good study habits so your child can become a self sufficient learner. I share all the notes and materials I use for later reference and I write detailed updates so that you know exactly what we've accomplished after each session. My main teaching strategy is using analogies, especially for biology. For example, if a student has difficulty understanding the difference between a cell wall and cell membrane I would compare it to a solid door versus a mesh screen door that keeps bugs out but allows air to flow. For math classes, I use word problems and orderly steps to help students recognize what a question is asking for and how to tackle it accurately each time. If you have any additional inquiries, please reach out. I hope I can help!
