Hi I'm Meg! I'm a 2019 graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a major in Honors Mathematics and a minor in computer science. I have worked in NYC in software engineering, data analytics and cloud focused roles in the fintech space. I am passionate about providing a positive experience and role model to the next generation, in particular female / womxn pursuing a career in computer science, software engineering, and cloud related fields.

In college I tutored both math and introductory computer science courses and love when the moments when a student "gets it"! As a late bloomer in CS myself ( I started programming as a sophomore in college!), I love helping those discover and pursue their engineering passions no matter their age. I have worked professionally in AWS for 5 years, and currently hold 3 active AWS certifications- Solutions Architect Associate, Security Specialty, and Advanced Networking Specialty.

While at university, I minored in computer science (18 hours of credits) and did a specialty in computational mathematics (an additional 9 hours of programming credits related to R, computation etc.). I previously worked as a software engineer where I was the tech lead for a team designing microservices written in Java. I also have career experience in writing python for data analytics, OOP, scripting, etc.

While I was studying at UT Austin, I tutored math subjects including discrete math (groups, sets, graph theory) and number theory, including its applications to cryptography. In addition to my tutoring experience, I was employed by the math department to grade homework for a discrete math course. Lastly, my undergraduate honors thesis focused around the application of graph theory techniques to social media data during natural disasters.

I have 4 years of professional experience working in AWS cloud and cloud security. I have held the solutions architect associate and security specialty certifications from AWS since 2020, and recertified them both in 2023. My professional experience centers mostly around AWS Security, I also have years of hands on experience in data stores (RDS, S3, Dynamo) and networking. In addition to AWS certifications, I also obtained the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification in 2023, scoring 99/100 points.
