I graduated from Stuyvesant, NYC's top specialized high school, with a 626 SHSAT score, 97.1 GPA, 11 APs, and 1580 SAT. I received the National Merit Finalist Scholarship with a PSAT score of 1500/1520. I have prepped students for the SHSAT over the past 6 years; they have received offers to Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, Brooklyn Tech, NEST+M, etc.

Mentoring expertise: Tutor + Director for an SHSAT prep program for 4 years. Breakthrough Collaborative Teaching Fellow at in-person school. Coach for Cosmic Writers, improving students' fiction writing skills. Attended conference on neurodiversity education. NYU Welcome Leader + Residence Hall Office Assistant, supporting new transitioning students.

English expertise: Intern at Tessler Literary Agency, preparing manuscripts for submission to publishers. Descriptive Copywriter for Books That Save Lives Publishing, writing copy for marketing. Reader for Flash Fiction Magazine, evaluating submissions for lit mag publication. Published in multiple literary magazines.

For math, I guide students with Khan Academy questions supplementing my lessons. I scaffold and target foundations before students take on any mock tests or larger projects. Students are motivated by concretely seeing that they can solve questions they struggled with before.

For ELA, I teach "epiphanies": tangible realizations that help approach questions consistently and accurately. There are tricks to hack reading and writing that are not taught in schools. I am a firm believer in teaching essay and creative writing strategies early on; younger students can grasp college-level writing strategies too. I am also happy to mentor tutees in submitting their writing. My philosophy is about ensuring students know how writing makes them agents of change in the world.

Creative Writing

Creative Writing

I am pursuing a BS in Teaching English and a Creative Writing minor at NYU, where I was accepted into the application-only Intensive Seminar in Poetry and Creative Nonfiction courses—the highest-level creative writing classes in the department's sequences. The writing world is multidimensional: to highlight how quality creative writing is both created and perceived, I will share with students my experiences as a Writing Center Editor, Flash Fiction Magazine submission reader, National Council of Teachers of English international awards judge, national Oral Interpretation Forensics/Speech competitor, Descriptive Copywriter for Books That Save Lives Publishing, Tessler Literary Agency intern, Cosmic Writers Coach, and being published in multiple literary magazines. There are strategies that no educator teaches in school, but that everyone still subconsciously expects from high-level authors; any writer will benefit from learning these.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I am pursuing a BS in Teaching English and a minor in Creative Writing at NYU. In high school I was Writing Center October 2023 Editor of the Month, and in college I have taken the courses Writing as Inquiry and Advanced College Essay. I read for Flash Fiction Magazine and have 5+ years in different organizations (test prep, creative writing coaching, editing) giving feedback to others about what constitutes good writing. I understand how to structure expository essays succinctly and how to use signposting to guide the flow.
Fiction Writing

Fiction Writing

I am pursuing a BS in Teaching English and a minor in Creative Writing at NYU. As a freshman I was accepted into the application-only Intensive Seminar in Poetry course, the highest-level class for poetry at the university. In high school I was Writing Center October 2023 Editor of the Month; took AP English Literature; was published in Caliper Literary Magazine; won April 2024 Writing on the Wall poetry contest prompt; and was 2024 inter-grade competition winning musical scriptwriter. I read for Flash Fiction Magazine to evaluate writing submissions. As a Cosmic Writers coach, I worked one-on-one with a middle school student to provide personalized feedback on their fiction novel-in-progress. I received an Honorable Mention in poetry for the Scholastic Art & Writing awards in 2024. In 2025 my writing was published in the magazines Generasian, Spires, and The Weasel.
SHSAT (NY HS admissions)

SHSAT (NY HS admissions)

I graduated from Stuyvesant, NYC's top specialized high school, with an SHSAT score of 626, 97.1 GPA, and 11 APs. Other SHSAT preparation methods often involve intermediate-level review of content and many mock tests; I actually do not think this is the way for students to learn from what they don't know. In my 6+ years of tutoring SHSAT, I have accumulated particular strategies that lead to tangible score improvements. Besides directing a virtual SHSAT prep program for 4 years, I am also a recipient of National Merit Finalist scholarship (PSAT 1500, SAT 1580) and have experience engaging middle school students as a Breakthrough Collaborative Teaching Fellow. Any interested SHSAT students will not need to purchase additional materials for my prep.
