I'm Ethan! I graduated from Duke University, receiving my Bachelor of Science, majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology. While I can teach several subjects, I am most passionate about teaching mathematics. Math has always been a subject that I have not only shown proficiency in but also enjoyed. My teaching style is highly interactive. Rather than exclusively lecturing, I would like to have my students work through practice problems, and I will take the time to explain concepts and show example problems when they get stuck. I encourage my students to stop me at any time to ask questions! I typically make lesson plans that include visuals and text on slides. For the SAT specifically, the structure of my lessons usually follow a pattern of concept explanation, worked example/detailed step by step, tips/tricks, then practice problems. Following sessions, I give my students resources to work so that they can reinforce what they learned. I am always open to feedback and adjusting my methods to fit my students' learning styles.

I have over 1 year of online one on one SAT tutoring experience, with the majority of my students being in 11th-12th grade. I got a 1530 superscore on the SAT (790 math, 740 reading). While I specialize in math, I also have the same amount of experience tutoring the Reading/Writing section. I have become very familiar with the digital format of the SAT and the use of the Desmos calculator. In addition to SAT tutoring, I have also tutored K-12 Mathematics and Biology.

I believe that education is essential to growth and opening many future opportunities. My goal is to make sure my students benefit as much as possible so that they can achieve their goals. Please feel free to contact me with any questions!
