Thank you for taking the time to review my profile! I am passionate about Science and supporting students in their journey to growing their confidence in science courses. I received my B.S. in Psychobiology from UCLA, excelling in my STEM courses and supporting my peers by tutoring them. I went on to earn my M.S. in Education at Johns Hopkins University and served as a middle school science teacher for many years in Alexandria, Virginia. I taught both in person in a classroom setting and via Zoom during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Outside of tutoring, I work in healthcare technology as a customer success manager, nanny for a wonderful family of three (13, 11, and 7), crochet, read, and explore new restaurants in NYC!

At Johns Hopkins, I was trained in evidence-based teaching strategies such as the 5E instructional model. This model of teaching follows 5 phases: engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate. This model of teaching creates the opportunity for students to interact with concepts critically and master key learning goals via meaningful learning experiences. I define meaningful learning experiences as those that are culturally responsive - and align with the interests, passions, and lived experiences of the students themselves. Learning is significantly more fun when you lean into your curiosities and find ways to apply concepts to the real world. When preparing to work with me, please provide your syllabi or any course content/material your teacher has supplied you with. I will prepare by examining the concepts we need to cover and build lessons that leverage experience and applicability rather than reteach information in an "I speak, you listen to manner."
