Hello!
My name is Leah and I've been teaching and tutoring for my entire adult life. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Cinematic Arts, a Master's in American Studies with an emphasis on the relationship between history, cultural studies, and storytelling, and a Masters in Education. I'm certified as a 7-12th grade English teacher and I currently teach English at a special needs high school, where I also support the music department and serve as Director of Educational Programming.
When I'm not teaching, I'm usually running, reading, or at the movie theater. I have an insatiable interest in understanding the human experience through all avenues - whether that means psychology, film, or simply people watching in my fabulous home city of New York. I bring my enthusiasm for exploration to my teaching as well, where I emphasize positive relationships, growth mindset, and personal growth as key elements of any learning experience.
Among my students and peers, I'm known for my positive presence, my organization, and my high standards - high support approach. I'm also known for my dedication to my students, specifically to helping them to unleash their own potential and use learning as a way to better equip themselves for the incredible lives that lay ahead. I look forward to learning with you!
