Math has been a passion for my entire life. I don't just enjoy solving problems on my own, but I love taking students on their own skill building journeys....

Math has been a passion for my entire life. I don't just enjoy solving problems on my own, but I love taking students on their own skill building journeys. I am successful because I quickly get to the root of misunderstandings by stripping back to the math fundamentals and reinforcing the building blocks needed for advancement.

I earned my BS in Mathematics in 2003 and spent 10 years in the Actuarial Science field. In search of a more rewarding experience, in 2013 I began volunteer tutoring math fundamentals for low-income students as well as SAT preparation. Though I have spent the most time tutoring middle school and high school students, I also have experience with adult learners and elementary school aged children. My goal is always to dig deep enough to get to the place where there is an understanding and relate the knowledge that you already know to the new concepts troubling you now. I will not make assumptions about what you know and will reinforce the foundations so new material has stable ground to grow.

My desire to help those most in need, led me to pursue an alternative certification program resulting in achieving a Master's degree in Adolescent Math Education in 2017. I taught public high school math in NYC and currently hold New York State Certification for Mathematics Grades 7-12.

I am down to earth with a silly sense of humor. I don't just want you to learn, I want you to feel comfortable and enjoy yourself during the session. So whatever math skills you need to develop, and no matter your age or prior experience, my approach is simple: Let's figure out where you are, where you want to be, and together let's walk the steps to get you there.

Excellent tutor!

Kandice is simply amazing! My daughter was struggling with geometry and believe me when I say we have tried many tutors. After one lesson with Kandice, my daughter said she is the one and immediately wants to book another lesson with her. Kandice is extremely knowledgeable and able to break down complex problems in a way it’s easier to visualize and comprehend. She also provided supplementary materials. My daughters now has weekly scheduled lessons with Kandice and since then her test grades has improved tremendously. Do not hesitate to book a lesson!

A Very Devoted and Kind Tutor
