I have always done well in my English classes, but like many students, I'm not a big reader. My English scores on the PSAT were very disappointing to me. With my SAT exam six weeks away, my parents decided to get me a tutor to help me with English. Craig explained the strategies for beating the test better than any teacher or tutors I had watched online. After the first lesson, all I kept repeating was, "How has no one ever taught me these techniques before?" We didn't have as much time together as we would have liked, but after six 90-minute tutoring sessions and numerous practice tests and quizzes Craig assigned, I raised my English SAT score by 190 points! I was thrilled and will be attending a top university in my preferred major this fall. Whether you have four months or four weeks to prepare, I definitely recommend working with Craig. The Best Coach!
I’ve probably texted Craig three times telling him that we definitely chose the best coach. We’re so lucky we found him. We just read our daughter’s personal statement and it’s brilliant. We chose Craig over a number of tutors we interviewed because he made it crystal clear how both essays and standardized tests are like “games where students are not given the rulebook.” With essays, no one had ever told our daughter about yield rates, algorithms, and part-time readers. No schools reveal the criteria Admissions Officers (AOs) use to judge the essays. Craig gave our daughter a peek behind the curtain and explained each box on the AOs’ checklists. Her essay checks off all those boxes. The opening is like a movie scene that pulls you in. The story is compelling. She demonstrates, rather than tells, the attributes that AOs want to see. The ending is memorable. She even teaches the AOs a few things along the way. Run, don’t walk, to hire Craig now, before his calendar fills up! I didn’t realize how great a difference there is among college counseling/essay consultants until we had a consultation and an initial session with Craig. We loved his unique approach. It encompassed writing a great essay and so much more. He educated us about many factors admissions officers are hoping to see (and others they’d preferably never see again)—ones that are never disclosed to the public. He explained to my daughter the importance of crafting a cohesive story where she demonstrates significant knowledge of intricate details about a university program—and how those specifics perfectly align with the future she envisions. We were only seeking one session for the time being, but will definitely use Craig in the future. I’ve already recommended him to a cousin who needs consulting on a college transfer application. Rockstar SAT Tutor!
Craig is tutoring my daughter in SAT Reading and Writing (ERW). On her four practice tests, she's averaging nearly 730 in ERW. Most students need help getting from that point to the 780 to 800 range. That is Craig's specialty. Before the first lesson, he reviewed her practice tests and recognized patterns of question types that kept troubling her. By the end of that first session, he had provided three or four intuitive strategies for each of those categories as well as targeted practice questions. My daughter immediately understood those strategies, could apply them, and could envision a perfect or near-perfect ERW score Thanks to Craig, my daughter will walk into the SAT confidently, expecting an 800 (or close to it) in ERW -- and I have no doubt she'll achieve it!

Very Knowledgeable and effective teacher
My son gets good grades in ELA and reads at a level one or two grades above his. Unfortunately, his schools haven't prepared him to write at a similar level, so I hired Craig to give him structure and a process. Craig has been tutoring my son for three weeks, and the progress in those two areas has been excellent. By Lesson 2, Craig guided my son through two prewriting exercises. Without realizing it, my son came up with most of the information required for an essay introduction and for one body paragraph. By the end of Lesson 3, my son was able to connect the information he had written about a different topic into a thesis with three supporting points (something he'd never been taught at school). He was also able to outline the Introduction and a Body Paragraph and turn those into a rough draft. I definitely plan to have Craig continue tutoring my son.

Unbelievable tutor for writing, English, grammar, and proofreading!
Craig is an unbelievable tutor for writing, English, grammar, and proofreading! I would recommend him highly to anyone. He clearly knows exactly how to structure a writing assignment -- from a basic middle school essay to a complex argumentative essay, such as the one he's helping me with. He reviewed my assignment and my draft during our session and immediately diagnosed the problem: My thesis statement was a statement of fact, and it needed to be an opinion. He was 100% correct because my professor sent me an email saying the same thing. Craig helped me brainstorm a proper thesis statement and arranged my argument into the perfect outline. He walked me through each step of supporting a topic sentence or claim until I had a response for each step. Finally, I can see from his corrections that he's an expert in grammar, proofreading, and citations. He quickly looked at my citations and showed me which ones belong in APA 7th or MLA format and which belong in Bluebook format (my paper has some caselaw citations). I couldn't recommend him more. He's a five-star tutor!
