I hold a BA from Brown University and an MA and Ph.D. from Harvard University. I have taught at Princeton University and Harvard University. I attended the Yale Writers Workshop and have been a writer-in-residence at the Study at Yale. I have also taught high school and middle school. I have authored four books and numerous articles in both academic and mainstream publications, including a book on college admissions. I have won numerous awards for my writing.
