Hi! My name is Vivian and I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy currently working as a Performing Arts PT on Broadway. I graduated from UC Davis in 2015 with a degree in Biological Science (emphasis in Neurology, Physiology, and Behavior). After completing a Pre-Health post-baccalaureate program at CSU East Bay, I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy from Mercy University, where I was inducted into two honor societies.
My tutoring journey began in high school at a local tutoring center, where I worked with elementary and middle school students in math, reading, and writing. I loved connecting with kids and breaking down fundamentals to help prepare them for higher-level learning. Later, I tutored high school students in SAT math and reading through a college counseling center. Altogether, I’ve spent about three years tutoring elementary through high school students.
During my post-bacc program, I continued teaching in subjects ranging from Abnormal Psychology to Biochemistry. In physical therapy school, I tutored pre-OT, OT, and PT students in anatomy, neurology, physiology, and kinesiology. I also taught in the cadaver lab and held office hours to support students who were struggling. I particularly enjoy teaching anatomy and kinesiology and will be starting as a Teaching Assistant in Kinesiology at Mercy University after completing my clinical training and board certification.
I generally tutor one-on-one or in small groups, as I believe students have unique learning styles and benefit from customized approaches. While my main focus is tutoring students in healthcare programs, I also enjoy working with elementary and middle school students. Having competed in math and writing competitions myself, I find those areas especially fun to teach.
