Hi! I'm Nick, a recent graduate of New York University with a major in Music Theory & Composition and a minor in German. I'm originally from Boston, Massachusetts, where I spent every high school summer teaching music and writing at a daycamp for kids aged 7-14. I come from a family of English teachers, so I find that teaching the Humanities goes hand-in-hand with my own artistic pursuits.
On the practical level, I'm an experienced teacher of creative and essay writing, having worked as a peer tutor in my high school's writing center. I've had two essays published in the NYU Expository Writing department's yearly publication 'Mercer Street' and I'm quite comfortable helping to craft that perfect college essay, navigating the thornier aspects of grammar, or simply giving a student's writing the extra push needed to excel in English class. I am, of course, studying to be a professional composer, so I'd be delighted to help students struggling with the enigma that is music theory, or offer guidance to anybody interested in writing music. An experienced guitarist, I study contemporary classical music, but I'm also somewhat experienced with jazz, having performed at events such as the Panama Jazz Festival and the Charles Mingus High School Jazz Competition.
I'm reachable any time and willing to travel or meet online. Please do let me know if there's any further information I can provide, I'd always love to chat!
