2350 Rated Experienced Competitive Chess Player Who Loves to Teach

I'm Benji! I am a recent graduate from Dickinson College where I was president of the chess team. I love chess, but more than that I love teaching the game and helping people improve. I began playing chess when I was in first grade and have had several chess coaches in the past. I have also attended summer chess camps as a student and then eventually as an instructor. My Chess.com Rating is 2350 which puts me in the top 1000 in the world out of 90 million+ users (99.99%) and my USCF Rating is 1900. My goal is to teach chess in a way that shows students how they can approach the board in new ways. I want to give my students an idea of what goes through my mind when I approach a game of chess and then help them come up with their own style that suits them. Most importantly, I want to make the game fun! I am proficient in openings, middle game strategy, tactics, positional chess, and endgames. In between lessons I am constantly taking a look at my students' games throughout the week to come up with lesson plans and themes to discuss.

I consider myself to be very patient and personable and can teach at whatever pace is comfortable (with high energy and enthusiasm).
