Hi, I'm Stephanie! I graduated from Dartmouth College in 2019 and am currently pursuing my Masters in Sport & Performance Psychology. As someone who needed frequent tutoring to get through math classes (hello, humanities brain!), I quickly learned that being a tutor is about so much more than understanding the material yourself. As an English & Writing tutor, I am empathetic, compassionate, and creative, and I strive to give all my students a well-rounded approach to learning. I go the extra mile to identify learning and comprehension blocks, with an emphasis on meeting my students where they are, instead of where they “should be.” As a college essay tutor (and award-winning, published playwright), I am also adept at identifying students’ passions and helping craft memorable admissions essays.
My greatest tutoring success was with a kid named Ravi, whom I met when he was in 4th grade. From the moment I met him, I could tell he was smart, but he ranked towards the bottom of his class in Reading Comprehension and Writing. In our first lesson, I gleaned that Ravi was not unable to do the work - he just needed some tips and tricks to approach his writing assignments with confidence. In four months, he went from a kid who spent our lessons shrugging his shoulders and looking out the window at the snow, to a student at the top of his class, with his teacher frequently writing home about his marked improvement.
I am going into my fourth year of tutoring, both online and in-person. For younger learners, I use a combination of worksheets and free writing prompts to assess shortcomings, supplement classwork and build confidence. For high school and college students, I use conversation to learn about your study history, habits, and writing style. I am confident that I can help you unlock your full potential.
