I have been working in education for over ten years. I love working with students on new and challenging subjects. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing someone grasp a new idea or learn a new skill. I started as a museum guide and educator and then went on to teach undergraduates at the University of Oxford. I am now the head of the humanities department at a small private high school in Tenafly, NJ. Since 2014 I have tutored students in reading, writing, and SAT prep.
I specialize in English and the humanities generally. In addition to my work as a teacher, I am a published writer and art historian. I walk my students through every phase of the research and writing process from brainstorming topics, to formulating a thesis and making final revisions. Together, I walk students through their work so we can hone in on specific areas for improvement.
My goal is to help students achieve their academic potential. Of course, I help students master the content of a given class or lesson, but perhaps more importantly, I also give them the tools they need to succeed independently. I know every student has different needs, so I work closely with students and their parents to develop an individualized academic plan.
