Kathryn is an MIT Student studying Computer Science. She graduated from the Bronx High School of Science (the #1 high school and specialized high school in New York City). She has taken advanced classes including AP Physics C, AP Calculus BC, AP Computer Science, AP Statistics, Multivariable Calculus, and Fundamentals of Programming receiving A's in all classes and 5's in all AP exams.
She has previously tutored 7 students one-on-one in Geometry, SHSAT and SAT. These students ranged from ages 13-17. Her teaching methods are flexible to the needs of every student and she is determined to find the best way for each individual student to learn best. Different methods include using analogies, diagrams, practice problems, testing strategies, and demonstrations.
She also has experience teaching in a small class setting for the Steel City Codes non-profit organization where she taught Python and Java to 15+ students with ages ranging from 10 years to 15 years. Students started off the 8-12 week program with no experience in coding and ended with the ability to create their own small game in the programming language of their choice. In total, she has been teaching one-on-one in tutoring centers for two years and small class settings in the Steel City Codes non-profit organization for three years. She hopes to continue helping students to reach their academic goals and learn as much as they can.
