Hello! My name is Sydney and I graduated from University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Business with a B.S. in Commerce specializing in Business Analytics and Information Technology (3.7 GPA). Outside of class, my time was dedicated to my roles as both a Teaching Assistant (CS2102 – Discrete Mathematics & COMM3220 – Database Management Systems) and Varsity Cheerleader. I firmly believe my experience as a Division I athlete and a dedicated student committed to helping peers achieve their academic goals will allow me to lead your student to success in and out of the classroom. I use lesson plans that focus on introducing the topic in a hands-on and engaging way, then digging deeper into the content with knowledge check-ins along the way. Afterwards, I ensure there is time for additional practice and review. Of course, this method will be adjusted based on the subject and student’s individual needs.

I have 2+ years of experience tutoring peers at a college level through one-on-one sessions and weekly class-wide office hours. I also served as an overnight camp counselor through the Summer Enrichment Program at the University of Virginia where I provided 24/7 supervision for eight elementary students in addition to designing and implementing a multi-day enrichment curriculum in which I taught the importance of self-confidence and mental health in the classroom. My diversity of experience will allow me to teach with patience and empathy for all students.
