Hi! I'm Ricky, and I love teaching! I have a B.A. in Physics, an M.A. in Math Education, and over 15 years of teaching experience, formerly as a classroom teacher and now as an independent tutor. I specialize in the following subjects: Physics (including AP Physics 1 & AP Physics C), Calculus (AB & BC), Precalculus, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry.

Hi! I'm Ricky, and I love teaching! I have a B.A. in Physics, an M.A. in Math Education, and over 15 years of teaching experience, formerly as a classroom teacher and now as an independent tutor. I specialize in the following subjects: Physics (including AP Physics 1 & AP Physics C), Calculus (AB & BC), Precalculus, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry.

What I love most about tutoring is helping students develop not only their skills, but also the confidence to take on their coursework. I emphasize visualization, conceptual understanding, and a positive problem-solving mentality. I am extremely patient, and I approach learning with a sense of humor, to help ease any anxiety students may have.

I have a master's degree in math education from NYU Steinhardt, and have tutored math for over 15 years. My experience teaching algebra 1 covers both students taking it as middle/high school class (including those preparing for the NYS Regents), as well as those preparing for the SAT/ACT. It it absolutely vital for students to properly learn the skills taught in Algebra 1; they are the foundation for the math that students will use in their future high school and college courses, in both math and science.

Excellent Tutor!

Ricky started tutoring physics to our 11th grader in April and her grades have substantially increased! We like him so much that he is now tutoring her in algebra 2 as well. We tried a few other tutors and our daughter just didn’t “click” with them, but she immediately took to Ricky’s patient, professional, positive and encouraging approach. It is very clear that he has extensive knowledge in physics and math and he explains each topic so she understands and makes sure she gets it before moving on. He also provides us with high-quality assessment summaries after every session of the topics they went over, along with insights into what she understands and what she should work on. The only regret we have is not finding Ricky in September! Highly recommend!
