Hi, I'm Tyler! I have a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Connecticut. While in college I spent my free time helping to tutor my fellow students in math. I also contributed by acting as a teaching assistant for several summers, and helped to start a small math club. Being proactive when it comes to my education and the education of my students is something I've regarded as very important since I first started tutoring. I believe that finding success in mathematics is about having the right instructor, which is why I am excited to offer my help!

I have several years of professional experience tutoring, both in college and independently. The grade levels of my students range from early elementary school to upper college. I'm confident that I can help you regardless of how far along on your educational journey you are. I am especially comfortable tutoring algebra, geometry, and calculus, but would be thrilled to help with other subjects as well. My students have been accepted to schools such as Cornell, Bowdoin College, and Trinity College.

If you're looking for a laid-back tutoring environment where you can be sure to find success in your subject, please reach out! I love helping students in any way I can.

Elementary Math

Over the past three years I've had a great deal of experience tutoring at a variety of levels, including basic elementary mathematics. Working at an elementary math level presents its own challenges which aren't usually present in math such as pre-calculus or higher. I believe that through my experiences I've developed methods of explaining topics at the level of elementary math that make me stand out as a tutor. Please reach out if you're interested in getting help in this subject; I would love to talk to you!

best tutor ever

I have never done so well in a math class in my entire life, until now. Tyler makes learning math as fun as learning math can get. Logs of fun actually. I highly recommend!

Honors Geometry

Tyler was great with my daughter and she really liked working with him. We are going to set up weekly appointments to keep her knowledge of Geometry all year.

best tutor ever

Whether the ranking is in natural, rational, real, irrational, imaginary, complex, hypercomplex, p-adic, decimal, binary, ternary, quaternary, positive, odd, even, prime, algebraic, trigonometric, constructible, transfinite, ordinal, cardinal, infinitesimal, hyperreal, surreal, fuzzy, computable, or definable numbers, or Roman numerals, scientific notation, or tally marks, Tyler is number one — or whatever the top position equivalency is in these number classification systems — in math tutoring. Highly recommended!!!

The Perfect Guide

Climbing a mountain is a dance with gravity, a blend of exhilaration and toughness that tests both body and mind. As a climber approaches the rock, its rugged surface challenges and taunts, daring the climber to find a way up. Each handhold and foothold requires precision and strength, careful thought and deliberate effort, a puzzle to be solved. Learning math is akin to climbing, an exigent journey that demands resilience and determination. As my student approaches a new concept, it looms before her like an imposing rock face, daunting, seemingly insurmountable, and full of unknowns. She must persevere through the tough spots, learn from mistakes, and trust that with each step she is getting closer to mastery. But amidst the difficulty and mental exertion, there is the thrill in the progress made. And when the summit is reached, when the math is fully understood, my daughter is rewarded with a sense of accomplishment that is as vast and intoxicating as the view from the top. Thank you math mountain guide Tyler. The sense of accomplishment my daughter feels once she has summited a concept is unmatched. Great joy has been found when pushing the limits of possibility.

Important Review

The reviews left by Aimee (me) are authentic, unpaid reviews. My daughter really has met with Tyler 100+ times from 2022 to the present and Wyzant allows me to write a review after every session. My daughter meets with Tyler after every school lesson and before tests. He has helped my non-math-oriented student get As in four high-level, high school/college classes so far. If I were being paid to write reviews, I’d certainly be diligent enough not to use the same account name over and over.

Exceptional

Many AP precalculus tutors are good. Tyler is actually great. My high school junior has somehow absorbed his positive energy and now likes doing math. Tyler helped her discover that math isn’t scary or boring, rather it can be fun.

The Miracle Worker

Math was my daughter’s weakness — until she started working with Tyler. To fulfill the high school requirements, she had to take college algebra and AP Precalculus this year, at the same time. She got an A final grade in the college algebra (one semester course) and is getting an A in the AP. Thanks to Tyler. I couldn’t understand how this was possible, so I watched one of the recorded lessons. Tyler has a gift for both teaching and for math. We went through so many tutors before Tyler and this combination is so rare. He has made my daughter like math!!! I recommend Tyler B. without hesitation.
