Hi! I'm Larissa, a Computer Science and Mathematics double degree at UMass Amherst (GPA: 3.8/4.0, Dean's List every semester), and a proud recipient of the UMass Chancellor's Award for academic excellence. My research spans AI at Dell Technologies --; where I developed multi-agent architectures and co-filed six patents--; and serving as an AI Research Assistant at Harvard's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, using computer vision to automate brain scan segmentation across contrasts and resolutions. I've also worked as a Data Analytics Intern at Liberty Mutual, building full-stack applications and AWS cloud pipelines, and presented original computer vision research at a national conference. I'm currently applying to the NSF GRFP, NDSEG, and the DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowships. Alongside all of this, teaching has always been a constant thread in my life-- as VP of Girls Who Code (mentoring 300+ participants), a UMass Senior Advisor, and a coding workshop leader for elementary school students and seniors in my community.

My tutoring strengths include mathematics, computer science, Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, data structures, algorithms, statistics, and introductory machine learning. Because I work at the intersection of theory and real-world application every single day, I help students understand not just the "how" but the "why" and connect concepts to problems that actually matter. I'm especially skilled at helping students who feel stuck or intimidated by technical subjects to rediscover their confidence.

My sessions are structured but always tailored to you. We start by identifying exactly what feels confusing, work through examples together at a comfortable pace, then practice independently so you leave each session feeling genuinely capable. I'm patient, encouraging, and easy to reach between sessions when questions come up. Whether your goal is improving your grade, preparing for an exam, or building confidence in a subject you've been avoiding; I'd love to help you get there!

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I scored in the top percentile in Algebra and standardized math assessments and am a Mathematics and Computer Science double major at UMass Amherst with a strong academic record in proof-based and applied math. I specialize in Algebra 1 tutoring, covering linear equations, inequalities, functions, graphing, systems of equations, exponents, and word problems, with an emphasis on mastering fundamentals that carry into higher math. My tutoring approach focuses on step-by-step reasoning, error diagnosis, and test-ready problem-solving, helping students avoid common algebra mistakes and build long-term confidence. I have experience mentoring and teaching students at multiple levels and tailor each session to support homework help, quiz and test prep, and grade improvement.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I scored in the top percentile in advanced mathematics, including Precalculus, and am a Mathematics and Computer Science double major at UMass Amherst with rigorous coursework beyond the high school level. I tutor Precalculus concepts including functions and inverses, trigonometry, unit circle, exponential and logarithmic functions, polynomial and rational functions, sequences, and series. My teaching emphasizes conceptual understanding, graphical intuition, and problem-solving strategies that prepare students for AP Calculus, college math, and standardized exams. I provide one-on-one Precalculus tutoring, homework help, and test prep tailored to each student’s pace, helping them build confidence and mastery in advanced topics.
Python

Python

I am a Computer Science and Mathematics double major and a former AI Research Intern at Dell Technologies, where I used Python extensively for machine learning, agent-based systems, and data-driven modeling. I have applied Python across AI research, computer vision, data analytics, and software development in both academic and industry settings. My experience includes building machine learning models, neural networks, data pipelines, and automation scripts, as well as teaching Python fundamentals through workshops and mentoring. I offer Python tutoring for beginners through advanced learners, covering Python basics, object-oriented programming, data analysis, machine learning, and real-world project support, with clear explanations tailored to each student’s goals.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I earned a perfect SAT Math score and am a Mathematics and Computer Science double major at UMass Amherst, where I have completed advanced math coursework including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, probability, statistics, and linear algebra. I specialize in SAT Math test prep, focusing on problem-solving strategies, time management, calculator and no-calculator sections, and common SAT tricks and pitfalls. I have extensive tutoring and teaching experience, mentoring students to improve their SAT Math scores, build confidence, and approach questions efficiently under time pressure. My teaching style emphasizes clear explanations, step-by-step solutions, practice with real SAT questions, and personalized study plans tailored to each student’s goals.
