My name is Hanks, and I studied at Columbia University majoring in Financial Economics and Biochemistry.
I’ve been tutoring for over 8 years, working with students from kindergarten all the way through high school, and I truly love helping students build confidence and succeed academically. Over the years, I’ve taught subjects including all High School subjects, Math, Science, English, History, SAT prep, SHSAT prep, Regents, and APs.
I’ve worked with several tutoring organizations and schools, including Platinum Edge Tutoring, Fast Mentoring, and Vineyard App Camp, where I taught both one-on-one and group classes. I've taught at numerous high schools, including Gotham Tech, High School of Language and Innovation, and more.
Other than tutoring, I consult with students throughout the college admissions process, researching colleges, and understanding admissions requirements. I provide support for personal statements, supplemental essays, and scholarship essays through brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and detailed revisions.
In addition, I help students identify and pursue meaningful extracurricular activities, leadership opportunities, research experiences, internships, volunteer work, and projects that align with their interests.
I assist families in creating academic roadmaps, including course planning, AP selection, providing one-on-one mentorship from freshman through senior year, offering continuous guidance as students navigate each stage of the college admissions process.
Outside of tutoring, I’ve been heavily involved in research and leadership. I conduct laboratory research with teams at Mount Sinai and NYU, focusing on regenerative medicine and genetics.
As a tutor, my goal is not just to help students improve their grades, but to help them genuinely understand concepts, think critically, and enjoy learning, adapting to each student’s pace and goals.
