Hi! My name is Ryan, and I recently graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Biological Sciences and a minor in Biomedical Engineering, earning a 4.0 GPA. I scored a 524 on the MCAT (100th percentile) and have extensive experience teaching, mentoring, and helping students succeed in challenging STEM courses.
Throughout my time at Cornell, I served as a teaching assistant for four courses and spent five semesters as an Academic Excellence Workshop (AEW) facilitator, where I led a supplementary chemistry course focused on problem-solving, active recall, and collaborative learning. I also worked as a tutor for Cornell engineering students for three years, helping students master difficult concepts, improve study habits, and build confidence in their academic abilities.
In addition to teaching, I conducted engineering education research focused on active recall and spaced retrieval, studying how evidence-based learning strategies improve long-term retention and exam performance. I incorporate these principles directly into my tutoring, helping students study more efficiently and achieve lasting results.
My primary focus is MCAT tutoring. I help students develop a structured, personalized study plan that combines strong content mastery with effective test-taking strategy. Rather than relying on memorization alone, I emphasize active recall, passage-based reasoning, pattern recognition, and efficient use of resources such as UWorld, Anki, and AAMC materials. Whether a student is just beginning content review or preparing for full-length exams, I work closely with them to identify weaknesses, improve performance, and maximize their score potential.
Having successfully navigated the MCAT process myself, I understand the challenges students face and the strategies that lead to meaningful score improvements. My goal is not only to help students achieve a higher score, but also to help them become more confident, efficient, and independent learners.
