I am a New York State certified Childhood Education teacher with a Bachelor of Science in Childhood/Early Childhood Education from the State University of New York at Cortland. My coursework and fieldwork experiences provided me with a strong foundation in mathematics instruction, literacy development, differentiated instruction, and evidence-based practices aligned with the Science of Reading. Throughout my preparation program, I completed multiple student teaching placements in diverse elementary classrooms, where I designed and implemented standards-based lessons, analyzed student data, and supported learners with varying academic needs, including students with IEPs and 504 plans.
Over the past several years, I have worked with students in grades K through 6 in both whole-class and small-group settings. My experience includes student teaching, substitute teaching, and providing individualized academic support. Working in elementary classrooms has allowed me to develop strong classroom management skills, flexible instructional strategies, and the ability to quickly assess student strengths and areas for growth. I have supported students in building foundational reading skills, strengthening comprehension strategies, and developing confidence in mathematics, particularly with problem-solving and conceptual understanding.
As a tutor, I believe learning should be engaging, structured, and tailored to each child’s needs. I begin by identifying a student’s current skill level and learning style, then create personalized lessons that combine explicit instruction, guided practice, and meaningful application. I prioritize building confidence and fostering a growth mindset so students feel comfortable taking academic risks. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but to help them become independent, motivated learners who understand the “why” behind what they are learning.
