Hi! I’m Anastasia
I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS in Biology (Cellular & Molecular concentration) and a BA in Psychology (Cognitive Neuroscience concentration). I was honored to receive the Outstanding Senior in Biology award from the faculty and to be inducted into the Psi Chi Honor Society.
Throughout college, I actively sought out opportunities to teach and mentor. I worked as a college-employed tutor for three years and served as a Teaching Assistant for seven courses across biology and psychology. I also took on additional roles as a Peer Advisor and led BLS trainings through our campus volunteer EMS agency. These experiences allowed me to teach in one-on-one settings, small groups, classrooms, and hands-on training environments.
I now work in research at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, and while the work is deeply meaningful, I truly miss teaching. There’s something special about watching a concept “click” for a student. I love taking complex topics and breaking them down into clear, approachable pieces. I usually start with the big-picture framework so students understand what we’re learning and why it matters, then work through the “how” step by step.
I strongly believe that real learning comes from understanding, not memorizing. When students understand the why behind a process, they gain confidence and independence. One of the most rewarding pieces of feedback I’ve received is that students finally understood a topic after we worked through it together.
I’m friendly, patient, and genuinely excited about helping students build both mastery and confidence. I would love the opportunity to support students in reaching their goals and discovering that they’re capable of more than they think.
