I have been a high school science teacher since 1971. For the first few years, I taught physical science. After eight years, I was asked to teach NYS Regents Physics. I did so for about twenty-five years. For the last twenty-five years, I taught AP Physics (C). I have taught the Mechanics and E&M courses and the regular physics course. My students performed among the top in the state in the results on the NYS Regents exam. During the last few years of my high school teaching, I was recognized for several awards - Yearbook Dedication, PTA's District Teacher of the Year, for compiling a study manual for my AP Physics students to assist in preparing for the AP exams. One of the things it provided was a statistical analysis of previous exam questions, which enabled them to concentrate on the type and nature of the questions most utilized in the past. There was an article in the newspaper after an interview with the paper's journalist. I had a remarkable and meaningful career as a high school teacher.

I retired in 2006 and took a year off. I quickly realized that I love to teach and am passionate about helping students understand a potentially challenging subject. There is an exceptional satisfaction in watching a student process a difficult concept for the first time. You can almost "see" the joy of learning on their faces. This is a look that money cannot buy.

I started seeking some options for part-time teaching. I found a job at a private school. Shortly after, I was interviewed for an adjunct position at a local four-year college (Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY). I taught there for thirteen years. Some of that time overlapped with my time at the private school. The college teaching was terrific! The students were outstanding.

I have my Master's Degree in Secondary Education and have permanent certification through NYS.
