Bio

I'm Max! I'm currently a computer science and math student at Binghamton University, but my interest in mathematics (and tutoring it) developed long before college. At Brooklyn Technical High School, I took over 10 different math courses, from graph theory to linear algebra, graduating with a 4.3 grade point average. I have over 2 years of experience tutoring elementary through high school math, up to and including precalculus/trigonometry. I specialize in test preparation, namely the SHSAT...

I specialize in test preparation, namely the SHSAT and SAT, but I'm more than willing to tutor any test with a math section!
In the last two years, I’ve built extensive tutoring experience in a professional setting, working with a tutoring group to assist over a dozen students of all ages, both online and in-person (at a library), with standardized tests like the SAT, SHSAT, TACHS, and ISEE. Alongside one on one tutoring, I helped manage scheduling and lesson planning for the other 30+ tutees I was working with, maintaining consistent communication with both students and parents. My responsibility for so many people at once made sure I was always on top of said communication, making sure no student or parent was ever left unaccounted for.

Whenever I tutor, my first priority is to always establish a common ground with my student: something we can both relate to, talk about, or laugh over. From my experience, this always eases them into the lesson, making them naturally more interested in an otherwise challenging lesson simply because they feel more comfortable learning it. I’ve found that when students feel understood, supported, and at ease, they lean into the learning process, growing the confidence to tackle the math problems that once seemed impossible.
