I'm a former university professor with an M.S. in Computer Science. More importantly, I'm a father of three home-schooled girls (youngest is elementary school-aged, oldest would be in high school), and I'm proud to be the one that teaches them math, stats, probability, and coding. As a professor I specialized in teaching subjects such as statistics, computer programming, and artificial intelligence to students without a strong math background. I tailored my teaching style to help those students overcome fear of these subjects even as they learned, and this is also my guiding philosophy as a tutor.
I have formally taught or tutored students in biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, chemistry, physics, ecology, algebra, geometry, precalculus, calculus, linear algebra, computer programming, Python, machine learning, statistics, data analysis, and chess during my time as a professor, a tutor (including several years doing test prep for Kaplan), and a teacher for a home-school cooperative. I have taught adults as well as students as young as 6.
Sessions are online-only. I offer a free initial online consultation so the student gets a chance to meet with me, see what I'm like to work with, and decide whether I'm a good fit. I do require a 12-hour advance warning for any cancellation. Thank you for your consideration, and please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or scheduling requests.
