I believe that when math makes sense, students can finally understand it. They need strategies, multiple techniques and an organized approach. I have a Masters degree in general education, however, I have been passionate about math and have helped students "make sense" of middle school and high school math courses for over 10 years. My desire to impart my love for math to my students in Algebra and Geometry has helped to turn struggling students into successful learners who join in the enjoyment of solving problems and grasping mathematical concepts. When tutoring students, I find that a trusting relationship where students are comfortable sharing their concerns helps us target their needs and address the concepts that are unclear to them. My goal is to develop confidence and a toolbox of strategies that students can pull from when engaged in math on their own.

I have also worked with students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade for over 10 years who need a patient approach to everything from the number system and rules, applications of concepts, and understanding and applying basic operations. I have taken students who had fears of mathematical concepts to students whose scores and independence improve dramatically. I have worked with Common Core and Regents Exam preparation topics in Algebra and Geometry and for both, providing strategies for students, often different from those demonstrated in the classroom. I love staying with students through many years of their math courses because we work with their learning styles and I address individual needs of each student to help develop their math minds!
