"BSI, Scene Safety!"

Hey everyone! My name is Albert, but most people just call me Al. I have an extensive background in Emergency Medical Services and emergency management, with over eight years of experience working as a paramedic in both New York City and throughout Long Island. My education includes coursework and certifications in emergency management, leadership, and organizational behavior — all of which I’ve been able to apply directly to real-world, high-pressure situations.

I currently work as a NYC paramedic and field training officer, where I train new paramedics and EMTs through real-life scenarios. In my free time, I also teach in classroom settings at various EMS educational institutions, helping students build confidence in their skills, develop strong clinical judgment, and learn how to handle the stress that comes with the job.

Over the years, I’ve completed advanced training in HAZMAT response and emergency management, and I’m currently finishing a double B.A. in Emergency Management Administration and Business. I’m also a certified FEMA instructor and teach courses for HERT (Hospital Emergency Response Training).

EMS has always been my passion. Having learned through many different teaching methods myself, I try to adapt my style to fit each student’s needs. I understand that some topics can be challenging to grasp or connect to real-world practice, so I focus on making learning practical, relatable, and confidence-building. My goal is to help future providers not only succeed academically, but also feel prepared to perform when it matters most.

I’ve been working as a paramedic in New York City and Long Island for over eight years. These days, I also work as a field training officer, helping new EMTs and paramedics learn how to stay calm, think clearly, and make good decisions in high-stress situations. I spend part of my time teaching in the classroom, too, where I focus on helping students better understand concepts. I am also a certified HERT instructor for FEMA
