My greatest skill sets are in the title! Helping students refine critical thinking skills and find their creative flow. I love assisting with structural challenges on the paragraphical and sentence levels, strengthening theses, arguments, guiding students to locate the best resources and I have a whole binder on every detail of English grammar system to support you as well.
I’ve been an avid reader and writer my whole life. In my teens and twenties, I self-published punk chapbooks and contributed 20+ poems and flash fiction pieces to various online and print publications.
As a tutor, I was trained originally at CUNY Queensborough Community College as a writing and reading tutor, primarily sitting with new/recent English Language Learners from 18 years of age and up on one-on-one and group settings. Most of my students I was paired with had special needs because of my friendly, non-judging and patient nature.
I then volunteered at the International Language Institute in Northampton, Massachusetts- my favorite memory was being chosen to facilitate tutoring services to a Professor of Feminism and Sociology from Senegal. Somehow I thrived as did my student.
I contributed journalistic writing to the Greenfied Reporter. Post-COVID my path totally shifted, of course. Since then, I’ve learned to embrace myself as a death doula and an artist focused on my own craft and serving my communities. Let me re-emerge as a tutor, because I’m really motivating and fun, and I’ll make you look forward to engaging sessions and suggestions for practice.
With gratitude always,
Stacey
