Hi! I’m Jionna, a University of Southern California graduate (B.A. in Law, History & Culture), where I graduated magna cum laude. I have several years of experience working with K–12 students through tutoring and teaching support, with most of my experience in elementary and middle school education. I’ve worked as a virtual teaching assistant for first and second grade classrooms, supporting students one-on-one and in small groups in specific skill areas identified by their classroom teacher.
My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and supportive. I focus on reading, writing, English, and homework help, working with students to build confidence while strengthening skills like comprehension, grammar, organization, and clear written expression. One of my favorite parts of tutoring is seeing the “lightbulb moment” when something finally clicks, and I enjoy breaking material down step by step so students feel comfortable and capable.
I tailor each session to the student’s pace and learning style, adjusting how material is explained and practiced so concepts feel clear and manageable. I also tutor middle and high school students in history and social studies because it’s a subject I genuinely enjoy and studied extensively, focusing on helping students understand events, themes, and cause-and-effect rather than memorizing dates.
