I have a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET). My technical background allows me to break down complex algebraic and calculus concepts into clear, logical steps.
My tutoring experience spans over 8 years across diverse age groups and structural settings. I spent 3 years working in a university Learning Support Center at St. Petersburg College, where I provided targeted 1-on-1 and small-group algebra through calculus support to traditional college students and nontraditional adult learners. Additionally, I spent 3 years with NY Cares providing foundational math tutoring to adult learners, and 2 years tutoring high school students in-person through the Fresh Air program.
In my teaching approach, I start by looking at where the student is struggling and break it down so that he/she can master the components before we address the whole problem. I consistently ask them questions and follow up with a “why” to their responses. I feel that students attain mastery over material when they can confidently tell me not only how, but why they are solving a problem. I take both verbal and somatic cues to assess how comfortable/uncomfortable a student is and will slow down and focus on the problem area if need be.
