Hi, I'm Adam! I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology with a focus on Biomechanics (physics as applied to anatomy and physiology) During college I was introduced to our Makerspace and was enamoured with all that went on there, at the time I had some experience with wood working and 3D printing/modeling so I was able to secure a job. The primary objective of my time there was to learn the tools and equipment and then help other students who wanted to make something, it was there that I was first introduced to being an instructor and eventually an educator.
A few years later I moved to New York and freelanced for a bit, but then found a full time position as a high school teacher from 2019 to 2022. I primarily taught AP physics, AP environmental Science, and several different engineering and design classes. I began teaching as normal, but halfway through the year the pandemic struck, which forced all of us to transition to fully online and eventually hybrid learning models. While the change was difficult to navigate it opened my eye to various new methods of how to approach education, including project based learning and peer-review as applied to science and engineering processes.
Because of my experience in 3D modeling and prototyping (which I initially got into for 3D printed prosthetic design) I am now an adjunct professor in the Industrial design department at LaGuardia Community College here in Queens. I love my current role there as it is a wonderful balance of woodworking, 3D modeling and printing, and student led project development, however because I am an adjunct professor I find myself with a decent amount of time on my hands, This is why I would love to extend my knowledge and love for helping students as a private tutor!
