My name is Dave R. and I graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego in 2014. While enrolled, I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education with a minor in Mathematics. After graduating college, I earned my certifications in Childhood Education (1-6) and Adolescent Education for Mathematics (7-12). After beginning my teaching career, I later returned to Oswego to complete my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. This year I became a New York State Master Teacher, one of roughly 1600 in the state.
As a teacher and tutor for the past 10+ years I have taught multiple math classes including Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Statistics, Business Applications and Geometry. I have experience teaching these subjects to students of all levels including those with IEP’s, students whose first language is not English, and advanced students.
I have experience teaching and tutoring students from first grade all the way to adults. For students still in school I can help them work on their basic math skills, prevent the “summer slide”, and to prepare for various exams (such as the Regents, SAT, or ACT). For adults, I have helped them to receive their GED and to study for the math portions of exams to be accepted into apprenticeships in electrical trades and plumbing.
For high school students, I know the Regents exams can be a big stressor. I am very familiar with preparing students for these tests, and I grade hundreds of them each year. If you are preparing for a specific test, please let me know and we will make sure you are ready.
When I’m tutoring, my hope is that we can build your confidence and prepare you for whatever goal you have set out for yourself. I adapt my lessons and pace to fit the needs of each individual, so they get the most out of each session.
