I’m Mike! I’m graduating in Fall 2026 with a master’s in music production from Berklee College of Music, and I also hold a bachelor’s in Digital Multimedia & Design from Penn State. At Berklee, my professors came directly from the real world music industry across every sector of the field.

I’m Mike! I’m graduating in Fall 2026 with a master’s in music production from Berklee College of Music, and I also hold a bachelor’s in Digital Multimedia & Design from Penn State. At Berklee, my professors came directly from the real world music industry across every sector of the field.
I began teaching Pro Tools—and how to record and mix digitally—twenty years ago. I placed an ad in the local music paper, and many students hired me. They found me easy to connect with, patient, and knowledgeable, and I still work with some of them today on a professional level.
During my master’s program, I worked closely with professors who used Pro Tools in every area of music production. I earned A’s throughout the three year program, which strengthened my ability to teach at every level, including ITB (in the box) recording at a master quality standard. ITB production is the foundation of modern music—everything you hear streaming or on satellite radio.
I’m happy to teach students not only Avid Pro Tools, but also third party plugins, effects, virtual instruments, and MIDI. I can help with assignments from media or audio electives, undergraduate audio/music courses, or full graduate level music production programs. I tutor everyone—from complete beginners to working music professionals.
I also bring decades of experience as a NYC recording engineer, starting in the early 1990s and continuing today. A quick search for Mike Costanzo or Michael P. Costanzo recording engineer/producer will bring up my credits and references.
For our sessions, everyone will need proper pro headphones to eliminate audio feedback. I run a live Pro Tools session and share it on the Wyzant whiteboard, using a professional microphone while feeding audio directly from the DAW. I can also provide a link so you can stream a full stereo, professional quality feed through Audiomovers’ ListenTo app—a service I personally cover for my students.
Looking forward to working with all you future and current audio pros soon!
