I am a dedicated and experienced educator with 20 years in the classroom, specializing in helping struggling readers build the skills and confidence they need to succeed. As a certified special education teacher, I work with both students with disabilities and general education students, tailoring my approach to meet each learner where they are.
Over the past 10+ years, I have worked with dozens of students with dyslexia, consistently achieving measurable growth in reading accuracy and fluency. My experience also extends to students with Adhd, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, and speech and language impairments — giving me a deep, practical understanding of how to adapt instruction for diverse learning needs.
I am certified in both Orton-Gillingham and Wilson Reading methodologies, and I bring specialized training in Morphology through the Institute for Multisensory Education. In my teaching, I draw on a range of research-backed, Science of Reading-aligned curricula, including Fundations, Spire., Sounds Sensible, Recipe for Reading, and Heggerty.
Teaching reading and phonics is my passion. I believe every learner can succeed with the right instruction, patience, and support — and I am committed to helping students reach their reading goals and grow into confident, capable learners ready to take on new challenges.
I have a proven track record of results. Contact me today to learn how I can help your child thrive as a reader

For the last 13 years, I have worked with students with ADHD and other disabilities as a special education teacher. I have experience with different strategies to regulate behavior and to redirect students to get back on task. I utilize flexible seating, frequent movement breaks to limit the amount of time seated. I use strategies such as chunking tasks and using focus cards to help students complete work.

I am Orton Gillingham certified by the Institute of Multi-Sensory Education ( ISME). I complete 30 hours of coursework in the program. I have logged hundreds of hours using Orton Gillighman to help students learn to read and write. I have worked with students with Dyslexia and Dyslexia type tendencies for the last 4 years. I have also trained in Orton Gillingham-based programs such as Wilson, Fundations, and SPIRE.

Knowledgeable, Flexible, and Relatable

Alayna did an online assessment to identify baseline. This was very helpful on how to move forward with intervention. She was flexible in her availability as we are in different time zones. Alayna made a nice connection with my child the first time. This is important when working with any child.
