I am currently in a PA program in New York and aspire to become a general surgeon PA-C. I have attended St. John’s University and obtained both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Biology. I was given the opportunity to pursue the master's program on the condition that I serve as an adjunct professor while taking evening classes. At first, it seemed challenging and made me reluctant to pursue a master's degree, but once I began teaching, I fell in love with the experience of knowing what it is like to be both a student and a professor.
I have taught various biology lab courses at all levels, from freshman to senior year. The courses taught were Bio I: Population biology lab, Biology II: Cell/Molecular lab, Bio III: Intro Anatomy & physiology, Microbiology, and general biology concepts. I have taught at St. John’s for a total of 2 years, as my master's program lasted 2 years. I do miss teaching and engaging with students, hence I am applying for this tutoring position as it truly brings me joy knowing that I can educate students and make a difference in their academic journey wherever they are.
The classroom setting would have a maximum class size of 30, and most of the time, students used a buddy system to study together. Once a week, I had tutoring hours scheduled for students in the Biology department who needed a quick study session before their quiz or exam. My overall GPA had been a 3.8, and my test scores were great as well. I remained on the dean's list every semester and received academic excellence awards from my Biology department. If you have any questions for me whether they are biology related or not I am happy to be off an assist. I am looking forward to working with you.
Thank you,
Sanaya K.
