Hey! I'm Matthew, a graduate student at Rutgers studying to be a high school social studies teacher. I graduated with my bachelors in History with a minor in Political Science in May of 2025 as Cumma Sum Laude with a final GPA of 4.0. I am also certified in Public History and will have my teaching certification this upcoming spring. I have experience teaching US History, World History, and Government within a classroom environment with many different age groups ranging from 5th graders to high school seniors. I have also tutored throughout the past 5 years in both a one-on-one and group setting.

My teaching strategy involves using teaching materials to introduce notable events, ideas, or themes to build a base. This introduction is done flexibly based on the student's needs. After this base is made, higher thinking skills are built upon, utilizing more complex writing prompts and discussion questions. The goal of my tutoring is not only for the student to understand what happened at a certain period of time or to know the result of a certain court case, but rather to place all of these ideas into the greater picture in order to grow their thinking, reading, and writing skills.

I am a flexible tutor who is open to different schedules and needs.
