Hello. My name is Charlie S. and I greatly enjoy helping students understand subjects that challenge them. I have a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Lewis and Clark College and a Bachelor's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Oregon.

Hello. My name is Charlie S. and I greatly enjoy helping students understand subjects that challenge them. I have a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Lewis and Clark College and a Bachelor's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Oregon.

I am certified in New York State in Spanish, Grades 7-12, Special Education, and Elementary Education. I have eleven years of classroom teaching experience, including three years as a Spanish Teacher, three years as a Learning Disabilities Teacher, and one year as an ESL Teacher.

I currently work as a Migrant Specialist. In this capacity, I work with many students who do not have English as their primary language. As a consequnce, school can be very difficult for them. I work very hard to try and help them succeed in their studies.

I currently work with several students that need assistance with their study skills in order to pass their academic subjects.

I took 30 hours of Graduate level courses in Learning Disabilities as an undergraduate at the University of Oregon and became certified in the State of Oregon as a Learning Disabilities teacher. I also spent 3 months as a student teacher in a classroom with special education students. In addition, I took 24 graduate hours in Sppecial Education at Western Oregon State College. I spent two years as a classroom teacher in a self-contained elementary Learning Disabilities classroom (I had several students who had a diagnosis of ADD) and one year as a classroom teacher in a self contained junior high school Learning Disabilities classroom. I am currently Certified (Permanent Certification) by New York State in Special Education. I have received appropriate training and have significant classroom experience in the area of ADD/ADHD and would be an excellent tutor in this area.

As a Learning Disabilities Teacher, I had students who were classified as autistic. Finally, I have also privately tutored autistic students.

I am New York State certified in special education. I received my training in Learning Disabilities at the University of Oregon. I was required to take 30 graduate hours in this field in order to earn certification. This training included several courses related to dyslexia. Once I graduated, I taught for three years in a self contained Learning Disabilities classroom. In this capacity, I created individual academic programs for each of my students. More recently, I have assisted teachers in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEP's) for the Migrant students that I teach.
