Hello, I'm Sese! I'm currently an undergraduate math major at RPI, and math has been my strongest subject for as long as I can remember. I scored a 1530 on the SAT with a 780 on the Math section, earned a 5 on the AP Statistics exam, and a 4 on both AP Calculus BC (with an AB subscore of 5)and AP Physics C: Mechanics. While I don't yet have formal teaching certifications, this academic background has given me a strong, current foundation in the subjects I tutor: elementary math, Algebra 1 and...
While I don't yet have formal teaching certifications, this academic background has given me a strong, current foundation in the subjects I tutor: elementary math, Algebra 1 and 2, and Precalculus.
My tutoring experience so far has come from informally helping younger students and friends with math growing up, and I've always gravitated toward the same approach: rather than just handing over the answer, I like to ask students questions about what they already think or know, help them identify where the gap in their understanding is, and guide them toward figuring out the correction themselves. This comes from my own experience with teachers who were patient, organized, and made it clear that no question was too basic to ask, and I strive to be the same for my students. My goal is to create a judgment-free space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and building real confidence in their own problem-solving.
I'm also comfortable speaking Mandarin Chinese, which may be helpful for students or parents who prefer discussing lessons in that language. However, most of my tutoring experience so far has been in English. If you're looking for a tutor who's patient, encouraging, and genuinely enjoys helping students find their own "aha" moments in math, I'd love to work with you! :)
