In addition to being a heritage speaker of Levantine Arabic, I took 3 years of undergraduate formal courses in Arabic, studying both Modern Standard Arabic and the Egyptian Dialect, with 1 year independent study in the university, and a summer of intensive language courses in Egypt. I have experience with tutoring new students in reading, writing, speaking and listening and fellow heritage speakers who wish to improve reading and writing fluency.

I am currently working on my PhD in earth and Planetary Sciences with a focus on natural hazards. Specifically, my research is largely in gas emissions, primarily from volcanoes and wildfires so I am familiar with geochemistry principles but also have experience with physical geology as well. I was having some difficulty with Epidemiology calculations in preparation for a quiz, and she helped me practice by creating practice problems for me as well as clarifying when to use certain equations. She came very prepared and knew everything I asked her.
