I have a bachelor degree in mathematics from Binghamton University. I have been tutoring math for 5 years since 2021. I've always loved math but noticed that many students hated it or found it intimidating and so, my motivation is to make math enjoyable and approachable.
I started as a peer tutor in community college and taught 1-1 the following classes: Pre-calculus, Algebra, Statistics, Calculus and ESL. My students were college students as well as adults going back to college. After I graduated, I continued tutoring friends, members of the community and online. Here, I taught 8th grade math which involved Algebra. My method of tutoring follows what I was trained on before I became a peer tutor which had the main principle of not solving the problems for students but teaching them how to solve, explaining subjects they struggle with and allowing them to solve the problems independently on their own and stepping in when the ask for help or are struggling and in need of clarification.
Moreover, most of my tutoring sessions had the purpose of either reviewing for an exam, homework help or improving grades. And so I spent a lot of time teaching exams, taking strategies, and solving pain points that's making the student's grades go down. So, my method is making sure the students understand the subject well, and have the confidence to solve problems on their own. After each session I would give them practice problems and encouragement on their next test or homework. I am eager to bring my experience and help students succeed in their class but also their educational journey as a whole.
