I offer online sessions in standard Mandarin Chinese. There are two types of sessions that I provide. One is homework help, exam preparation, etc. You can send me the documents that you want to work on. The other type of session that I do is structured lessons with vocabulary, sentences, dialogues, etc. I follow a set curriculum and use ebooks for the sessions. I was born and raised in China and obtained my bachelor‘s degree there. I also completed a master’s program of Language and Learning from the school of education in the US. I have been tutoring Chinese since 2018 and I have worked with students from 8 to 80 years old, ranging from K-12, college, working and retired adults, and homeschooled students. Right now I am specialized in beginner Chinese. I am patient, easygoing, and punctual. I can be flexible with the schedule, too. I live in the Eastern Time Zone and my availability can be found on my profile. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Knowledgeable, easy to follow, patient

One of the marks of a good tutor is their skills in the language of the student. This helps them explain how to speak in the language the student is learning. Rae's pacing is great, her pronunciation is easy to understand (Beijing style Mandarin), and she writes it out in pinyin as she is speaking which helps learners who need to both hear and read pinyin to retain the information.

Great with kids

Rae tutors our daughter who is almost 6. They work on vocabulary and simple reading. She used material we provided and also adds her own material to make the lesson informative and fun for our daughter. She is really patient and has been flexible with the schedule. We highly recommend her as a tutor for Chinese!

Knowledgeable and patient

My son had his first session with Rae and he enjoyed the conversation. He went to a mandarin immersion elementary school but is now at a school that doesn’t have mandarin so we wanted something to keep his mandarin going. Rae did a great job of getting him to speak and figuring out where he is. She kept him engaged, was patient, and the session seemed to flow great.

Fantastic & Patient Tutor

Rae is a wonderful teacher. I have a couple learning disabilities and have had many different Chinese tutors. Rae is by far the best because she is incredibly patient, genuinely wants you to understand the material, and makes sure to go at your own pace. She wants you to understand what you are learning and wants to minimize the stresses of learning a new language. Rae is fantastic at making me less intimidated with learning Chinese by breaking down the grammar of the language and learning it step by step. Her mission is to help you learn and not frustrate you. She is incredibly patient, intelligent, kind, and most importantly she genuinely cares about her students. I would recommend her to anyone wanting to learn Chinese.

Very good.

My two boys (ages 10 and 13) have had two lessons so far with Rae, and they have really enjoyed it. She is helping them with their pronunciation as well as learning basic vocabulary and handwriting.

Excellent Tutor

Very patient and a strong knowledge expert. Took the time to understand where the gaps were in order to properly close them. Looking forward to continue to work with Rae.

Excellent Tutor

We tried several tutors before deciding on Rae and she was excellent. She was unable to continue with us because of her schedule, but we would hire again for sure.

Great tutor!

Rae is very knowledgeable, I plan on continuing lessons with her. The lessons are very well structured. Also she gives me all the materials prior to the lesson, I am able to print them out to be prepared, and she is good at communicating and responding to all my question between the lessons.
