Bio

I have been an educator for 8 years and am certified in both General Education and Special Education for grades 1–6. I am currently teaching in a Pre-K through 8th grade school, where I work with students across a wide range of abilities and grade levels.

I am particularly qualified for this area because I have recently taken an Elementary Math for Teachers course. I have also acquired many skills in teaching Elementary Math to children through diagrams. Just recently I have been observing other methods in a live classroom so I am able to share them with your child.

As a 5th grade teacher I teach my students English Language Arts which include reading and writing. I teach my students how to read with grade level vocabulary and read with grade level fluency. In writing I teach my students how to write proper essays and constructed responses with grade level mechanics.

Pre-algebra comes fairly easily to me. I have previously taken college pre-calculus and pre-algebra was, in a sense, a foundation for this course so I was able to brush up on my algebra skills while taking this course.

With being an active college student, I too write many papers and need them to be proofread. I have gotten used to proofreading papers of my own as well as papers of others. To increase my knowledge of proofreading I go to the writing center in my school to get help with my own papers. The center has helped me increase my knowledge of grammar as well as sentence structure.
Reading

Reading

Reading is fundamental and it is something that I do every day while in school and at work. I gained tutoring skills through my previous experience with tutoring a second grader in reading. I am also gaining more reading techniques for children while I have been doing student observations.
