About Terrence

Bio

Hey future students. My name is Terrence. I have been playing the keyboard for over 40 years. I have been teaching piano, organ, drums, theory, composition, sight-reading and sight-singing for 30 years. I teach classical, jazz, fusion and gospel piano. Many of my students have gone on to become professional musicians. My method is to assess your dedication and motivation and then to give weekly or bi-monthly assignment from a different sources.

Drums

I am well-versed in the 26 drum rudiments. My focus is on snare drum technique because this is the most important part of the drum kit. I teach basic rock and groove beats, because most of Drum playing is Pattern playing. I have 10 years' experience playing drums. I have four years' experience playing drums and percussion in an ethnic/jazz band. I have a degree in composition and piano from Columbia University.
Piano

Piano

I am qualified to teach piano. I have been playing the piano since the age of 9. I have been playing in churches for services, weddings and banquets for 35+ years. I have a degree in music from Columbia University. I have been teaching children and adults piano for 35+ years. I am a method teacher but I also teach how to play by ear. My focus is on sight-reading and singing at the piano.
